The Danish Girl

I heard Deborah Levy (author of Hot Milk) say “Love is difficult, that’s what makes it interesting”. The Danish Girl movie is one I’ve been meaning to watch since it was released and last night I finally caught up with it. It was as I anticipated, complex and emotionally provocative. It triggered some questions for me and answered a few. Any love story with real depth fascinates me, because it challenges what it means to love someone. There are so many kinds of love and often like layers of an onion as you peel it away, you gradually reveal something new but of course always beware it’s purple, potent serum which can cause stinging tears but that’s the inevitable trade off I guess.
