Marlene Dumas

I saw some great art work at Stedelijk, Amsterdam but my favourite work was that of Marlene Dumas “The Body as Burden”.
Her work is eerily dark, disturbing, confronting, uncomfortable and in some instances perverse but there is something intriguing about her ink and watercolours that make them impossible to ignore. I love the captivating power that an image can have over me it’s interesting to observe the sensation and is the main reason I love art because it forces to explore feelings I can’t articulate properly externally.
